Bear Lake

We stayed up in Bear Lake for a little getaway for a few days. We celebrated Hallie's 4th birthday while we were up there. She was pretty excited to blow out the candles on her cake and had blown them out before we could even sing "Happy Birthday". Tayler had to keep her from blowing on the candles so we could at least get thru the song. The condo didn't have a dryer so we had to use the oven to dry clothes. Landon's sock got a nice crispy brown.

Summer Camping

Hallie has officially been introduced into the fire stick club. Landon really enjoyed his until he decided to burn his mouth with the end of it. Mosquitoes, mosquitoes, mosquitoes --- they were just awful. I am ashamed to even admit this but Leah was actually the only one to catch any fish on this camping trip.

Freaky Carrot

The carrots turned out pretty good but just a little freaky.

Green Thumb Update

Well the garden has survived and is doing pretty darn well. We pretty much thought the whole thing was going to be a bust, but somehow it survived.

Vegas Vacation

Here are some pictures from our vacation last week. The famous Las Vegas sign. I was surprised that people actually line up to take pictures of the sign. I did take the picture but I didn't wait in line. The New York New York looks pretty cool.

Here is the Paris at night and the fountains at the Bellagio. That was pretty cool.

FAO Schwartz was really cool. Here is the big horse out front, that thing was huge. Leah and I outside the fountains of the Paris. The person who took this didn't even run off with the camera.

I have always thought Caesars Palace was pretty cool. We stayed and watched the fountain show. Didn't do much shopping in Caesars, Armani is a little too pricey for me.

Vegas has definitely changed since I was there back in 93. We stayed at the Circus Circus and highly recommend to never stay there, what a dive. That is probably why we didn't like Vegas too much, just the whole atmosphere there is pretty bad. Once you got out into one of the other casinos farther down the strip it was way better aside from all the porn, smoke, and drinking. We did have a $200 that was given to us to gamble, sort of. Anyways I think our total winnings would have been like $2. I secretly think that Leah is a compulsive gambler but she won't admit to anything.

Our nature preserve

For the 2nd year in a row the same pair of ducks keeps showing up in our backyard. Almost everytime it rains these two show up. It doesn't help much that if it rains enough we have a good size pond in the back corner. Hallie thinks that they are going to eat her and Landon keeps trying for a sneak attack to get a fatal shot in. So if you are invited over for duck soup you know where they came from!!!!

Some more yard shots

This one is called a contorted filbert. Pretty cool looking tree. I will get another close of it.

You can't see it very but we got a pretty cool twisty pine tree.

Green Thumbs

So we decided that we were going to attempt a garden this year. So I built these 5 planter boxes. So far we have lost 4 broccoli plants and a cucumber. I should have taken some more pictures but I didn't want anyone to see exactly how bleak things are looking. The pea plants and tomatoes may not survive much longer. On a good note however we do have 1 out of about 20 onion plants sprouting. So we will at least have maybe 1 onion make it out of all 5 boxes. So much for a green thumb. Looks like we may need a miracle

Getting the yard going finally

Been a while

It has been a while since we last updated the blog. We survived January and February mostly intact. Landon passed out in school last week. Everything checked out just fine, the doctor just thinks it was a case of standing up too quickly and getting dizzy. I (Tyler) have been feeling sort of the same way the last few days so we are going to assume it is just some sort of virus/bug going around.

Church callings are still keeping us pretty busy. Leah is still in activity days -- almost 3 1/2 years and running. I am now the 1st counselor in the Young Mens. We went up skiing to Wolf Creek this past Friday with the teachers. You could definitely tell that I hadn't skied in about 14 years, it was brutal. I know have bruises and raw skin up and down the back of my legs from my piece of junk rental boots, but I don't think I will lose any toenails -- usually my toenails on my big toe get all black and eventually fall out. Not a pretty site.

We should be getting a new camera soon so we will put up some newer pictures once that occurs so that we can test it out.
